Which Microsoft Windows operating system supports USB?

A lot of ppl say 98SE

Its from the original 98 onwards, tho it needed drivers for practically everything, 98SE mostly resolved this beofre the invention of memory drives, now it needs a lot of drivers too.

The first successful that really understood everything would be ME or 2000

XML support not detected.?

I use a software program called PCLaw. It's a billing system. I've used it for years with no problem. Suddenly, today, when I try to start the program, it tells me,

"XML support not detected. Please install Microsoft's XML V3 or V4 support."

What is XML support? And how do I install it? For bonus points, any theory how I might suddenly have lost XML support (given that this program has worked for years now).

I am currrently using Microsoft XP.

Thank you for any help or assistance you may provide.

Microsoft 2003 Office Download?

2003 Microsoft Office Download: Word, Excel, etc.,

I contacted HP with a small problem with Office 2003. I got their Support Center in India. The Techn. told me to delete it, so I did. He keeped assuring me that this was the way to correct a simple issue I was having. Well 20 minutes later he finally said go download 2007 edition, because he couldn't get 2003 edition back. Microsoft say's they don't support programs that are pre-loaded on Computers. HP won't help either! Well Office 2003 is no longer available from Microsoft Site for downloading. Only 2007 version and they want me to purchase it.

Can anyone help me out with Microsoft Office 2003 download, so I don't have to buy it again?

I would truly appreciate it.

Contact HP's customer support again, demand to talk to a manager, and tell them that their support s霉cks, the first guy you talked to completely dropped the ball, and in order to straighten things out they need to set you up with Office 2003. It's HP's mistake, so you should make **them** fix it.

One question I have is why don't you just reinstall Office 2003 from the CD? Did you not have a legal copy? If you had a bootleg one, you're SOL and you're just going to have to buy the software.

It all depends on how you got Office 2003 on your computer in the first place. If it was pre-loaded on the computer when you bought the machine from HP, by all means keep bugging them until they fix it. Good luck!

Hi Pal :)

Well, at first, I would suggest you to restore your computer to an earlier date when your computer used to work just fine. To access that, go to Start %26gt; All Programs %26gt; Accessories %26gt; System Tools %26gt; System Restore. Make sure you choose a date when your computer was OK. Many times this usually overlooked function of Windows really helps.

Secondly, you might want to give a try to the "Repair" option of the Windows installation. I have never used it, but have seen it there on the installation page of Windows XP, when it searches your hard disk drive and in case it finds a current installation of Windows XP, it asks if what you want to do is to repair the current installation, rather than installing over. Make sure you create backups of all of your files before you go for this one.

Should this fail, you might then need to choose the second option (Format, Clean Installation). Or, if you have still have some hope, you might want to contact Microsoft and see if they can help.

Hope one of the soft solutions will work out ;)

I have been unable to delete an expired trial version of Microsoft Office 2007.?

Going to the control panel and trying to use the add/remove program does not work. I keep getting a message saying "the language of this installation package does not support your system". I called Microsoft and they told me to call HP, that HP modifies their system program to be able to support downloading trial versions of certain Microsoft programs. My HP laptop is an older one and evidently cannot read the Microsoft Office 2007 program to delete it. HP won't help me how to delete this program without charging me a $50.00 fee and warranty has expired. I do not think this is fair. If I had known or been prompted by Microsoft that I could download this program but not remove it once it expired without paying a fee to the manufacturer of my computer I would have never downloaded it in the first place! I would like to know if removing this program is complicated enough to warrant paying this fee or is it something simple that someone out there can help me do myself. Thank you

I have been unable to delete an expired trial version of Microsoft Office 2007.?windows xp service

Do a manual uninstall as a last resort...

Disclaimer:

Manuall uninstalls usually involve editing the registry which if done improperly can render a machine unbootable.... You should make a backup copy of the registry before you attempt to make any modifications....

First try running the original Office 2007 setup program (not from the control panel) Add/Remove programs) ... There should be options to add features, repair and uninstall office. Try using the uninstall from within the setup program. If that fails try repairing Office then attempt an uninstall again.

Try the above again in SAFE mode...

Try performing a system restore using a restore point before MS Office was installed....

Manual Uninstall

Goto the administrative tools in the control panel and click on services Services . Stop the Office Source Engine if it is running.

Delete the following registry keys if present:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\...

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\...

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\O...

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\...

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\...

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\...

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentContr...

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\UpgradeCod...

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Win32Assem...

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Features\*...

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Products\*...

Then goto to the following key

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\...

browse for and delete any listed keys which deal with MS Office 2007

That should do for the registry edits, now delete MS Office folders on the drive

Program Files\Microsoft Office

i highly doubt that u will be able to remove it. are u located in chicago?
Sometimes a trial version will have an uninstall option on the 'expired' page. You can also go to 'start', 'all programs' and look for Office 2007 and see if there is a menu button and if it displays an uninstall option. Next you can do a 'system restore' and that should get rid of it. Short of all of the above, you can go to Windows Explorer and delete the folder that the prgm is in. The only drawback to the last option is that you will remove the prgm but not any system changes or registry changes. If all of this seems cumbersome and you have enough hard disk space, just leave it there, it ain't hurting anything and wait until you find some comp pro who can get it out.
you can go into the program folder and delete the folder then go to the registry in delete the foleder its really not that hard I did it so that dumb AOL would get out of my computer

I am sorry but what you want it for really won't work out. For school work... you need Microsoft Word...there is more money to spend...Your internet speed may be ok...but I REALLY reccomend you downloading Mozilla Firefox...I use it and it is SUPER FAST and my Explorer is SLOW. Games: NO WAY. The intel media accelerators are HORRIBLE...i can tell you are on a low budget like me because Celeron M processors arent that great but i advise you to get a ATI Radeon graphic card or Nvidea graphic card to play some games.... here are some sites for some laptops that are low price and for you: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...

Is this a good laptop for school work(microsoft), basic surfing and light games?default browser internet explorer

Yes. This is a very good deal. This is good for surfing and word. Although maybe not so good for games. But yes light games will work, although they might have to be really light.
As the other people said, this laptop will be great for school. If you're going to play any games that have even decent graphics, then I would recommend going with something more powerful. But then again, if you're looking to play tetris, card games, things that you basically aren't controlling your own character or city/country, then you'll be good to go!

Only suggestion would be to buy some extra ram to get it up to 768 or 1 gb total. Yes it will cost money, but it will save you frustration later on, beacause there is nothing worse than getting a new computer and then barely being able to run Word, MSN and Firefox or similar at the same time (plus maybe a game in the background!)
You've got a good computer for most of your basic computer needs. If you were to get heavy into major games or advanced computer stuff would be the only reason to get anything else.
read the review of your laptop and there could be a cheaper opption.

im an acer fan and a member of this site.

(spamming again lol)
yes but 512 MB Ram is slow when windows media player and internet are both opened...especially with vista...1 gb atleast

otherwie good.
For basic applications, this is fine. You do need to get a copy of Microsoft office for word processing, spreadsheets and presentation software. For Vista, many are recommending 2 gig of memory for it to run well. So, you'll need more memory.

http://www.9dollarsolution.com/?hub=1346...
While the net cost of $369 sounds attractive I can almost guarantee that you'll be disappointed in it before your first year of college ends. First of all... the processor is fast (for a laptop), but Celeron processors aren't known for their longevity. 512MB of RAM is too low, it'll actually stress the CPU four times as much as the same machine with 1 GB; 16 times as much as a 2 GB. Finally... Vista requires 40 GB of your hard drive to operate. By the time you add the software you'll need for college (word processor, spreadsheet, et al) you'll end up with a surprisingly small amount of storage space available on your hard drive.

I also looked at the "software bundle"... There's nothing of any importance in it except an operating system - and that's Microsoft's cheapest version!

I suggest that you save your money and get a stronger machine... fast Intel or AMD processor... at least 1 GB of RAM and 120 GB hard drive.
Yah... the 80Gig hard drive should make it fast... and its good for multi-tasking, Microsoft Word, and some light games like solitaire, pinball, internet checkers, and stuff like that, and u could play like RuneScape, World of Warcraft and stuff without a problem. Pretty Good Laptop too. Im from the Geek-Squad so when i say somethings good..... its GOOD. lol

- Edward Holmes
Yes it is very nice! but there is one problem...it's running Vista.

Get XP Home or Pro and it will be even cheaper.
Yes

You can uninstall Office 2007 without launching the installer using a tool from Microsoft called Windows Installer CleanUp.

Click on the link below and scroll down until you see the link called "Download the Windows Installer CleanUp package now." Click on the link and run the file, which will install Windows Installer Cleanup.

When it finishes installing launch it and scroll down and you should see a whole bunch of entries labeled "Microsoft Office ______". Highlight all of the entries with Microsoft Office in the title and click remove. It moves pretty quickly. When it's finished you should probably restart your computer.
This may be the link you are looking for

I would have said Sony several years ago, but now I'm leaning towards Microsoft. Sony has made some poor business moves and have become a couple of arrogant bastards. I heard they are making a come back, but I'm still sticking behind Microsoft(well, Nintendo really, but that wasn't a choice).
Sony all the way! It may lack of the game selections, but it has way better graphics and Blue-Ray. Blue-Ray players are better than HD. Sony needs to come back by either recruiting new game designer, or by working 10 times harder.
Microsoft

What doors will a Microsoft certification exam open? HELP!!!?

I'm considering attending a school called pc pro schools (pcproschools.com)! The cost is $ 24,500 and with that it includes books, instructors, computers and labs and is all hands on work. The certs. that I would receive are microsoft mcp, mcdst, mcsa, hdi customer support specialist, and hdi help desk analyst. When I attended the orientation, the gentlemen mentioned that they are one of only three microsoft platinum providers in michigan and that mean they have to have a 70 % graduation rate with the students and that they have to have a 70% employment rate as well in order to maintain the partnership with microsoft.

Which really all sounds great but I know little of the It education industry and whether or not these certs. are really that valuable or make a job as attainable as what they made it seem. I realize that usually if it seems to good to be true it usually is! I would really appreciate all of your input. Thank YOu !! :-)

What doors will a Microsoft certification exam open? HELP!!!?windows 98

Hi Ryan-

Furthering your education is good, so please do not think that I am being negative when I give you my answer.

My husband has his A+ certification. He got it over 4 years ago. Before then he went to a training program (Tek-Skills) paid over $12,000 (all in loans) but was not successful in the program because he was new to I.T and couldn't get the full gist of everything going on.

They told him he would be able to start out with $45,000 with a A+ cert alone and even more if he got his MCSE. Well my husband ended up dropping out of the program because he felt like the instructors weren't willing to help him, with the hands on attention they promised.

Okay so fast forward about a year. He is still interested in I.T. and still wants to pursue it. He ends up going to this 4 month program at a very small unknown trade school (Memphis Works - the program no longer exists now). He get his A+ cert but now no one will hire him for the amount he thought he would get because he still had no actual I.T. experience.

He had to start off making 8.00 per hour (4 years ago) and since then he has made job changes and found a good I.T recruiting service to work for.

They started him at 11.00 per hour and after two years and multiple assignments, his pay got raised to 15.00 an hour.

Finally, one company liked him enough to hire him on permanent and now he makes around 21.50 an hour.

Well my point is to encuorage you to take your I.T. educational process, on step at a time. I would not give those salemen $25,000 cause in the end, you will still have to have experience and the right connections to make it successfully in I.T.

If I were you, I would take one cert at a time, for instance go to New Horrizons Learning Center (google it) talk to the salesperson. Tell them you are not affiliated with any company (this makes you an independant student). Being an individual student makes your price go way down.

The A+ cert may cost $2500 to $3000, but if you are an individual, then it may only cost you $1200 to $1500 (loans are available if you need them) (even payment plan - if you get a nice salesmen).

Their classes are only 2 weeks and you can repeat it as many times as you want. Go take and pass the test, find a job, then go back to new horrizons again and take the next cert your interested in (like network +) or MCP and build on I.T. career like that.

Now my husband has maxed out on the amount he can make as a desktop support analyst and now needs to go back for his network + cert for further pay advancement.

I hope I didn't confuse you with all the details... bottom line -don't go to that school (per they are all for making the money). Go somewhere you have the power and control to steer your own educational process.

I go to new Horrizons Learning Center and have heard of people spending thousands of dollars on a program only to find out, they don't like that area of I.T. - they may decide to do databases or graphic design instead of desktop support.

Once you give them your loan money for a particular program, you won't be able to get your money back. So take it one class at a time (unless your salesmen offers a really good deal on a multiple class package). Example - one class cost 1500.00 and 3 classes cost 2000.00.

Hope this experience helps you...

God Bless...

p.s. - please don't think i'm saying don't get the cert cause I'm not - you need a cert to break into the industry more often than not.

Is it ok to install old versions of Microsoft that are not supported by them?

It's legal, but since they aren't putting out new security patches for it then I'd recommend that the computer never be connected to the internet, since it could be too dangerous.

Is it ok to install old versions of Microsoft that are not supported by them?windows xp home

If you want to

Is it ok to install old versions of Microsoft that are not supported by them?microsoft visual studio internet explorer

Yeah, perfectly fine but some things to keep in mind

- no more software updates

- you won't be able to call up for phone support

- new programs might not run on your old OS

If you're going to install an old OS, don't install past Win2000.
Sure it is.

You may have difficulty finding drivers for some of your hardware but there is nothing wrong with doing it.
If they are pirated, then HecK NO.
It is ok if you want to but I would suggest stay away cause you will have a hell of a time getting certain removable devices to work such as USB key drives (a nightmare with Windows 95/98). In fact most companies don't even support windows 95/98 anymore so you might not be able to get drivers in the first place.

Microsoft Vista or Hardware, who should be Blame?

Make poor people can't effort the latest gadget of computing %26amp; who should be blame Microsoft Vista or Hardware Which is Support it %26amp; Running it.

Microsoft Vista or Hardware, who should be Blame?www.microsoft.com

Vista has nothing to do with the price. You can get a vista operated pc for 300, the hardware is what makes the computer the most expensive. So, actually the hardware is to blame.

Microsoft Vista or Hardware, who should be Blame?microsoft windows xp internet explorer

Hardware, that's more expensive than software.
definately vista is at fault. almost all hardware out there works on XP.

if they were smart, microsoft would have based vista on XP so the drivers would be backwards compatiable.
Actually both are to blame %26amp; don't forget the user... There are compatability with anything when it's not ALL made by the same mfg. If it runs then compatability is not really the issue. The HW mfg's must fully understand the OS/SW their HW will be running. The PC user must know as well. If you build a large engine, put a small fuel system on it %26amp; try to tow something, who is actually at fault for the performance. I say the FULL PC mfg.(the individule who picked the components for their needs) He/she is the one who made the wrong decisions in regards to the ultimate question. "What will the PC actually be used for ?"
Almost all current computers can suppport vista. It is neither the hardware nor the software, it is the people who fall susceptible to product advertising and other things that companies do to sell you stuff.

The people who fall susceptible to these things I refer to as consumers. If you don't do what the retail stores tell you to or shop at them, and shop online at somewhere like newegg you will save a lot of money around upwards of 50%.

And also Vista is not based on XP which is actually a good thing because microsoft has not really put out anything new since NT platform. We should all have applauded microsoft for this unappreciated feat of actually putting out a new OS and not just re-shelling the old one. And actually If you bought a half decent computer and not a cheap one when XP came out you should still support vista. This is because It is the PC platform. Almost all PC platform OSes are intercompatible but not with the Mac platform. This can all get very confusing.

neither hardware nor vista is to blame. The large companies like microsoft taking advantage of the unfortunately poorly educated public (consumers) are to blame.

Vista was actually designed for poor people. There is a version called Widows Vista starter designed for third world or developing countries however it is not availiable in the U.S.A. or Europe.
No one is to blame. Who in the world told you that you could always have the latest gadgets if you can't afford them? Must be the same people that tell you that you can have the finest medical care in the world, just because you are living, or live in the best home in the world because you like it.

There is nothing wrong with not having the latest gadget, and sometimes having the latest is more of a pain then it is worth, but the point isn't to give everyone in the world the same things, and think that is "fair".

Why does Vista require more expensive hardware? Simple Microsoft wanted to make something that pushed the current limits. That way the people that can afford it will buy it to get the new features and in time that will actually drive down the price for both the software and the hardware, so that when they move on to Vista two you might be able to afford Vista 1. Or would you like to still be on machines that only run DOS?

Is it ok to install old pirated versions of Microsoft that are not supported by them? heard its lega

It's not worth it and it's not legal.

I don't know why you'd want to do that when you've so many free of cost OS available legally in the Net, which you can download and they're all better than MS Windows!

I use Solaris 10 OS which is much better than XP or Vista!

You can download and use Linux, Freespire or Solaris 10 OS, free of cost, legally!

You'll find the links to all three free OS downloads given below.

Only if you've a high end system like the AMD 64 bit 3000+ or more, should you try Solaris 10 OS. It's not meant for for old or low end systems and needs 6 GB space to install plus 1 GB RAM.

Mandriva and Freespire are better for low end systems and amateur work.

All the best.

Cheers!

Of course it's NOT legal, it's still called theft!

Why would you want to use a pirated version on a computer which probably cost a lot of money, when you can't get important security updates?

If you want to look after a computer, you should do it properly.

sort of
ILLEGAL... but ... :) Just don't let Microsoft communicate with its server to check for authenticity. Once it tries to communicate, you are screwed. Many people run illegal versions of XP. Get a firewall that allows you to control its communication. ZoneAlarm i a good program. Zonealarm program allows if you want to allow or reject programs trying to communicate with the internet access. I don't run pirated programs but I read alot :)
you can use it, but it will be vulnerable to improper allowances of some functions which supprted software get updates to prevent.
Using unauthorised copies of any software, (or even using authoried copies in an unauthorised manner - like use of software licensed for the cliend/desktop/personal/student use) on a commercial business server) from ANY vendor (not just Microsoft) is likely to earn you a few priveleges from your government, like free boarding and lodging in one of its numerous ``holiday homes'' a.k.a. penitentiaries.

I did a little experiment to see how the search engines stack up.

I typed in "brown door" and here are the results

Yahoo 126,000,000

MSN 54,200,000

Google 3,110,000

So if you think that Yahoo is "whatever" think again. Yahoo is the best search engine out there and you get results. To be on the first result pages of Google the websites have to pay and pay a lot. It used to be the case with MSN but don't know that for sure now.

If MS takes over Yahoo then all the stuff we like about Yahoo will disappear just like all the stuff that MS promised but never delivered on.

Since there are other search engines out there I would go to one of them but not MSN or Gooooogle.

What is your opinion on Microsoft attempting to take over Yahoo!?windows 95 internet explorer

What's so bad about Microsoft taking over Yahoo!? Microsoft is a great company and make it better if they did so my answer is I think its great they are. Plus, they'll put good games on it.
It doesn't matter to me. I could see Microsoft making Yahoo even better.
NO!!!!!!!!! I WOULD HATE IT!!!!!!!! NEVER!!!!!!!!!! i would go and change email domains, i HATE microsoft. BOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
yahoo is rubbish as it is , it will be even more rubbish if microsoft have any thing to do with it
I hope that Microsoft brings back the old yahoo message boards................those were LOTS of fun.

Well when you get internet you are going to be able to use them.

First open microsoft word or microsoft excel and a pop up will appear that says DO YOU WANT TO BUY THIS PRODUCT NOW and click that. Then the internet will take you to a place and you will be able to use microsoft. It says "Do you want to buy this product now" but it is free. You don't have to pay money at all. IT IS FREE.!!!!

you will have to buy a software package unfortunately. You could try Sun Star instead. its a copy of microsoft and it is freeware, just google sun star.
Yes you will have to buy the microsoft office for XP software, I had the same problem, everytime I tried to open it, it would flick up and close down again!
Unfortunately Office doesnt come as standard with XP you do have to buy it. Alternatively you could try OpenOffice which is pretty much the same thing as Microsoft Word/Excell but its free.

Installing microsoft office 2003 error, please help.?

I recently received a copy of Microsoft Office 2003 and when I go and install it on my computer I get this message "Microsoft Office setup cannot continue because the installation source has been corrupted" after I put in the product key. I've already been to microsoft.com to check their help and support and downloaded the things that will "fix" the problem but it still pops up with the same messge. Can you give me any other suggestions as to what I can do to fix this problem? Thank you, I would really appreciate it.

Question for Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 users only?

I am running Virtual PC 2007 from within XP Professional. I have Windows 2000 Professional running in the Virtual. Is there any way to set up a USB printer to run in the 2000? I have tried the normal install but the 2000 cannot detect the printer. I have no experience of installing a printer other than via a USB connection. Any help/advice much appreciated. Microsoft US refuse to deal with my question and simply refer me on to Microsoft UK (because I am in London, UK) but Microsoft UK never seem to respond to support questions.

Question for Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 users only?microsoft xp

You need to have the virtual pc recognize the usb drive. If you can't do that, try installing on your windows xp machine and sharing the printer. Then connect it to the virutal pc through the share.

Anyone know where I can download Microsoft Word?

My brother gave me this computer several years ago. It's a Windows ME and didn't have Microsoft Word on it. I'm trying to type up papers for NHS, and it's really difficult to do with notepad. D;

So, 'sthere anywhere I might be able to get a free download of a Microsoft Word program that's supported by Windows ME?

Anyone know where I can download Microsoft Word?default browser

Word is not free. you can try to use Wordpad which is part of windows. Lot better then notepad

OR

you can download Open Office which is the free alternative to Microsoft Office --%26gt; http://www.openoffice.org/

Anyone know where I can download Microsoft Word?microsoft word download internet explorer

OpenOffice runs under ME and is legally free and Word compatible.

Never used it though

http://www.openoffice.org/
try going to www. Microsoft.com click on downloads and you should be able to buy and down load the program you want.
Here's a free demo version...it should work at least for a while:

http://www.mydigitallife.info/2006/12/04...
You can get a trial copy of Microsoft Office (which includes Word) here: http://office.microsoft.com/search/redir...

Office is a paid product. I would suggest Office 2003. The new Office 2007 version does not run on Windows ME.

You may want to try OpenOffice, free software that includes a word processor, spreadsheet, and presentation program. These are faster than Word/Excel/Powerpoint but can read and write the same files.

I did some searching and found that it is an account that users in the Administrators group can assign rights to. When signed scripts get called from Help and Support Services pages, the scripts receive the rights of that account. So, in a nutshell, it cannot be used as a standard user. It is a very specific-use account. Got to love MS for that.

Hope this answers your question

Good Luck.

If I want to support corporate interests should I vote for Ron Paul?

http://www.opensecrets.org/politicians/a...

Navy and Army provide modest financial support to Ron Paul

Google and Microsoft also.

None of it is exorbitant.

If I want to support corporate interests should I vote for Ron Paul?microsoft support

$13,653 from "business" interests as follows:

$500 from the Consumer Electronics Association

$5000 from a credit union group (Credit Union National Association)

$5000 from the National Association of Realtors

That's $10,500 of it...the rest aren't really "Corporate" interests in my opinion but single issue and/or advocacy PACs, none of them totaling over $500.

So if you mean corporate welfare and dubious "free trade" pacts like CAFTA/NAFTA, no...I don't see Dr. Paul "in the pocket" of big business. However, his general attitude of de-regulation and advocacy of sound money would create a good economic climate for businesses so in that sense corporations SHOULD be backing Dr. Paul.

If I want to support corporate interests should I vote for Ron Paul?windows live mail internet explorer

No its Huckabee and the fair tax system
If you want to support corporate interests vote for any republican.

Blunt, yes. But true
Dang, Andy F beat me to it. I will still reemphasize if you want to throw away more rights for the average laborer, widen the gap between the poor and the rich, do away with the middle class, finish the drive to go back to the sweat shops of the early 20th century, then by all means vote any Republican. The Aristocracy will thank you for it by pushing you back into 12-14 hour work days, 6-7 days a week. WAKE UP!

There are many things I like about Ron Pauls message, but the fact he is a Republican makes anything he says a moot point to me. The only thing that would make me seriously consider him would be for him to remove himself from the Republican Party. I hope he does as there is no way he is going to win the nomination.
your example is joke - from 1996 ? and when you compare those numbers to rudy -romney mccain and thompson -clinton etc that is when I laugh the hardest - ron pauls avg donation to his presidential campaign in 2007 is approx 60 dollars-I got those facts from the same site -so no dont vote paul if you want corporate interests represented in the peoples govt-

vote ron paul the proof is in the facts
You %26amp; I and every other taxpayer are already supporting corporate interests in a variety of ways.

If you want to financially support corporate interests, buy corporate shares of stock, of the company you like.

If you want to support the Constitution and the freedoms it represents, support Ron Paul.

Yes, you should.

He is a Libertarian who believes in no regulation.

So, if you dislike the 40 hour work week, worker safety legislation, Social Security and Medicare, then you should vote for Paul.

The only good thing that I can say about Paul is that he rightfully understands that we should remove our troops from Iraq. Kudos to him for that.
Not really, but if you want rid of Big Brother and big taxes and wars we should not be involved in then vote for Ron Paul!
Ron Paul wants to support corporate interests because strong corporations are part of the paradigm...they just need to know their place and abide in it by the Constitution, the nation's laws and the will of the people
if you support porn industry , google makes gobbs of money from porn, pimps and hoes support ron paul and thatsa multi billion dollar industry. and I believe hed also get the support of all the drug kingpins.

Vista support expiry?

Anyone else noticed that Microsoft have already announced the expiry of support for Vista in 5 years?

Vista Home Basic, Home Premium and Ultimate will stop receiving updates, even critical security updates, after April 10, 2012.

Do they know something we don't?

Vista support expiry?microsoft visual studio

perhaps microsoft are expecting vista not to do that well, this is what really makes me mad

why do microsoft have to pull the plug on any of their windows versions, with their massive corporate strength you would think they could keep support up for all their previous windows

along with 2 x windows xp and 1 x vista ,i also have a desktop with windows98 on it and a laptop with m.e installed,so i was pretty cheesed off when i heard that microsoft were pulling the plug on 98/me updates, why?

i mean i am sure they could spare a few hours or a few staff just to concentrate on legacy versions of windows

microsoft need to get their act together,or apple will begin to blossom!

take care dude!

Isn't Microsoft the best?

They make the best #1 quality office suite in the world.

Xbox 360 works as a great, all-around multi-use game console. Which does more than just games.

Zune 2.0 is essentially iPod G5 PLUS MORE. Plus, unlike iPods, v1 Zunes are supported in this update. Kudos to MS.

Microsoft keyboards and mice work great ergonomically, and even look quite nice.

WM6 has a ton of functionality that the iPhone can barely touch.

Media Center is 10X than Apple TV/Front Row, with it's very intuitive UI, DVR functioning, and it just works.

WMP 11 is the best media management program there is. Beautiful UI, great rip/burn functions, and a bazillion skins, codecs, and tons of stuff.

Windows Vista works great on my Sony Vaio, since I bought it weeks ago. It runs super fast, offers everything OS X Tiger has plus support and more, and it just works.

Live Search 2.0 also has way improved relevancy and offers better search styles than Google.

Microsoft is awesome! What do you think?

Isn't Microsoft the best?microsoft windows xp

I happen to like their products a lot.

Some are turned off by their tactics in business and the cost of their commercial products, but they always have a quality product, in my opinion.

Isn't Microsoft the best?ie 7 internet explorer

My favourite oxymoron is: Microsoft works

That being said, I like them the best but they have a lot of work to do.
there ok. BUT there stuff is to f@#$ expensive
yay microsoft and sony are the best and nintendo
I can not stand Microsoft their computer systems are a monopoly all over the world and they are the least safe and have the worst program code.

My x box has already had a virus, my laptop has been attacked, my pc has crashed twice.

I got a power book and its like night and day. I will never go back.

And it sounds like you are taking a poll for their corporation, you sound like a generic Microsoft employee, see what I mean?
I think ... you work or own stocks in Microsoft.
yep
In some areas, but not all.

They have not figured out how to be on the internet like Google.
omg microsoft is a monopoly. an evil one at that. they've lost several lawsuits against them because of that, also. the whole idea behind microsoft was stolen in the first place. what a buncha crooks! wouldn't surprise me a bit if they didn't have tracking devices in all their software. or software that reports u to the govt. u need to get a life and some wisdom while you're at it. microsoft is out to make money no matter what. if the choice for them was to either make money or save your life, you'd better have your life insurance paid up lol.
lol wait til you've had vista a while on your sony
I have to agree with you that Microsoft has good products, but we have to see what's outside the box, we have the internet for example, Microsoft is struggling to compete with Google, we also have the video gaming industry, you mentioned XBOX but i would go with Playstation 3, I tried both and would vote for PS3 anytime.

and also for the operating system we will find Linux with its many distributions, its far better than the new Windows Vista and it also has a "free" office applications that matches the one in Microsoft office.

so the answer is yes Microsoft is great, but there are better companies, Microsoft is better than them in some points and the others are better than it in the other points.
Yeah their awesome until you have to pay to many of the high prices for all those great products. once that price comes along Microsoft is about as awesome as a ketchup popsicle.
It's easy to compare to OS X Tiger, but wait until Leapord comes out soon. The features that it will have are spectacular.

But really its apples and oranges, they're all great systems, just based on what you need. If you need a system for gaming, go with Windows, if your a media/internet lurker, it's Mac for you.

Oh and XBox 360 connects to my Mac just as well as my Windows computer did. Connect 360 is the program you need for that.
Hello..

Microsoft is not so great or awesome. Its just crushes its competitors with its bloody business tactics. You didn't know why microsoft is bad. Read this articles to know .

http://www.microsuck.com/content/whatsba...

From Azhar
"Isn't Microsoft the best?" - Yeah, in your dreams maybe. Microsoft is the most unethical corporation EVER created, with Sony coming a close second! The company lies, bullies and screws its customers -- all in the name of money. The guy above is absolutely correct. Windows is the WORST operating system to have ever been written. The whole OS is one giant spyware with LOTS of serious security flaws. Why do you think there are security updates almost every week?

You say vista runs great, but you fail to mention that you need a SUPER computer to run it; what kind of BS is that? Does microsoft seriously expect people to buy new hardware in order to run vista? What a bunch of clowns.

How dare you compare a piece junk like the zune to an iPod? The zune SUCKS big time. Nothing works on it. It's an ugly looking device with a tortured and unusable user interface. EVERYONE I know who bought one have returned it and purchased an iPod within a week! That's how bad it is. Read here:

The BEST company is Apple. Truly innovative products and great customer service. Microsoft ALWAYS copies Apple; it's a known fact.

Always remember: Apple innovates, microsoft imitates.

I love Microsoft! I don't use all their things, but for the stuff I do use, it's awesome!

I have a pink Zune and it rocks! I'm more of a video person, and the Zune really came out with something for that. Also, my iPod broke a lot, so I gave it up. Zune is much better.

I use Media Center too, as opposed to TiVo, and it's awesome to have it on your TV. It's much more fun to watch the TV with it. I even save a couple of my shows, and it works like a charm.

I agree, WMP 11 is awesome, compared to iTunes. I find a lot of add-ons, and it does a great job. Can't wait for WMP 12.

I use Live Search too, and its pretty neat. The new one does a much better job, and I find it as a great alternative to Google search. I get traffic updates, weather data, local info, and a bunch of extras - right on the search results page.

That's at least the stuff I liked from your list.

They're pretty neat. Companies really have the resource and capital to make the world go round, don't they?

Microsoft rules especially Halo
Yes microsoft is awesome... I really never liked apple.... buy the media player sucks.... I use VLC it can play any format so you don't have to buy any codecs like with the windows media! I still chose the windows over mac.... though I also love linux... I can tweak that to my own likings!
I dont use any of their stuff, except Vista which I have to support, and truefully, it sucks, biggest pile of junk.

We do more Vista to XP downgrade than XP to Vista upgrades, that tells the whole story for me.
NO

I know macs have game deficiency but Mac mini works great, all-around multi-use desktop computer. It has great support and perfect in running games also.

Quicktime Player 7 is the best media management program there is. Beautiful UI, great rip/burn functions, and a bazillion skins, codecs, and tons of stuff.

Mac OS X Leopard works great on every Mac, It runs super fast, offers everything Mac (unlike Windows, ripping off other OS) has plus support and more, and it just works on every Mac, you can also run Windows in it.

Mac is excellent! What do you think?

/:)
Microsoft make some very good software and hardware, but what about the price? I use VLC media player which is free; WMP is not - the price is added to the package. It's a shame Linux operating systems aren't friendlier, I'm sure it's a better OS but the techno-geeks seem unwilling to make it simple to use.

Microsoft Office is an excellent suite, but the price is too high by far for domestic use, Open Office is free and has about 95% of the functions and quality of Microsoft Office.

Internet Explorer 7 is looking pretty good too, but it has failed to tempt me away from Mozilla Firefox.

From memory I think from control panel you can click on language. Go through all the taps and find a box that says 'east asian language' to see if it's installed in your windows system. If the box is unchecked then you'll need to check it and install it with your copy of windows installation disks. You'll be guided through step by step by your computer then, enjoy.

I have installed a Japanese support pack on my english machine through the update page. It is a support pack for IE. It allows Japanese text to be viewed properly on a website.

Click on the 'Tools' button in IE then click on 'Windows Update'. The language packs are usually in the 'other' selections of 'Updates'.

Question about Microsoft and fixing my XBOX 360.?

I'm sure someone in India knows the answer to this question (no offense, and I apologize if it offends anyone but it's true since tech support had a strong Indian accent):

Will Microsoft still fix my XBOX360 for the ~$160 they mentioned over the phone if I opened the system and messed with the insides? I just got off tech support with them, and they told me that''s how much it would cost since I'm out of warranty, but I forgot to ask them this. I don't feel like being on hold for another 3 years.

Thanks to anyone who can answer this.

Does Microsoft Flight Simulator X Acceleration supports the video card ATI Radeon 9250?

no, it won't;

or at such low resolution (800x600) and lowest detail level that it would simply not be worthy playing.

until recently had an older AGP (Pro/4x) motherboard and used to play FlighSim X with a ATI Radeon 9-800XT at full resolution (1680x1050) but with limited detail (mid / low). eventually got a Asus AX-800XT and could use better detail (high / mid).

bottom line: if you can settle for a mid resolution (1280*800 or x1024) and middle detail level, a Radeon X1-650XT or HD2-600XT may do

i have meanwhile upgrade to PCI-E and a NVidia 8-800GTS and can play FSX at full resolution / detail, but i wonder in how far a Radeon X1-950 would be powerful enough for that.

possibly at 1280x1024 ?

keep in mind that your video-card isn't the only important part, in a fligh sim.; your CPU (%26gt; 2GHz) and memory (1 to 2 GB) are critical, as well; no point upgrading to a X1-900 (AGP) if you have only 512MB RAM and an older CPU coughing along at 1.x GHz...

Does Microsoft Flight Simulator X Acceleration supports the video card ATI Radeon 9250?windows themes

radeon 9250 are way too obsolete for that game, kiddo. flight sim x were designed for directx 10 which not compatible with your video card. u need to have at least ati x1900 for those kind of games

Since I heard that Microsoft is going to stop supporting XP Pro?

in Feb 09 is it a good idea to install it on a computer which came with Vista Basic? The computer is the eMachines T-6082 desktop. The RAM has been upgraded to 2 GB.

I appreciate any good advise. Thank you.

If you buy illegal Microsoft software, could you be supporting terrorism?

http://apnews.excite.com/article/2006120...

If you buy illegal Microsoft software, could you be supporting terrorism?download windows xp

This article says nothing about terrorism, it states that money was being sent to a son and Pakistan, and used to buy in land in the sons name. That could be for anything, possibly terrorism, drugs, prostitution, or it could by some slim chance a legit use of the money. (Bringing over and supplying land for family members)

I think anytime you by illegal property the money is going towards something shady. Be it terrorism or something else. However that is not the only reason to stay away from these products, stolen merchandise raises the cost of legitly sold products. The company must make up the money lost by the stolen product so they are forced to raise prices.

If you buy illegal Microsoft software, could you be supporting terrorism?ies internet explorer

NO.

wait did you say BUY illegal software??? i thought that meant download. yea, if you buy illegal software then you might as well be a terrorist because you're so ******* stupid you'll prolly accidentally kill yourself in a housefire along with innocent non-retards and that sounds like a terrorist to me.

edit: haha, no i didnt read the article. the question was soo stupid i thought it would be best to spare myself even more stupidity. lol
more propaganda
Yes, most likely.... Why would you buy illegal software anyway???

They can probably be traced, so when the feds come knocking on your door %26amp; take your computer, I wouldn't be surprised if I were you....
I sneezed. Does that mean I'm supporting terrorism?
I read it and I say no. Apparently they bought companies that were sold these programs at a discount.....and they in turn resold them. If that's illegal then so be it...but Microsoft WAS paid.....but they feel they didn't make enough.....29 million as opposed to 60 million they say they should have made(a loss to them).

Piracy is a much bigger problem.

And the article says nothing about terrorism...you're making that connection just b/c they are from Pakistan and sent some money home to their son.

How do I contact Microsoft?

I am having some problems with spammers using the microsoft corporate logo. I called up Vista tech support. I asked them for the email of the department that deals with fraud. She gave me this email at abuse@microsoft.com

This email does not exist. I must say that Microsoft has one of the worst departments I have ever seen for contacting. It looks like they are purposely attempting to hide any contact information.

How often do you go into Help & support in windows XP Professional?

I go there to update my microsoft windows XP operating system

i like to take the shortcut and update my computer, rather then opening up internet explorer, i may just read articles on help and support...if i feel bored, i know that u can also click on start, and on top of accessories, you see "set program set to defaults" "windows catalog" "windows update" and "microsoft update"

but i like using Help and support to read an article, and use and take advantage of windows update

so how often you use it??

Microsoft IT Professional Certifications?

Hi, and thank you for clicking, first of all.

I'm an IT professional with a BA in history and Russian (don't ask). I currently work in customer support where I provide how-to assistance on Microsoft Office apps. I have advanced knowledge of the entire Office suite, am very computer-savvy having owned a DOS/Windows-based computer since I was 10 in 1991, etc.

Anyway, I'm looking at my options beyond my current job, which I can leave as early as Nov '08. Mainly I'm looking for a job that pays better (I currently make $32.5K a year), and I don't want to be a password reset monkey at the helpdesk of some random company.

I'm looking at job postings and see a lot are looking for server expertise (Windows Server 2003, Exchange, etc.), which I don't have. Should I look at Microsoft's various certifications and seek to get MCSE/MCSA or whatever the new equivalent is? Are they worth it?

Also, what's the absolute dirt-cheapest one can get that (i.e. buy books, take no classes, get certified) ?

Microsoft IT Professional Certifications?ie

The Microsoft certs are good especially if you have experience and the certs or a 4 yr degree and the certs.

It is likely that your limited desktop experience will not qualify you for work in the server field. The Server world will involve a lot of areas that you don't have any background in like Active Directory, etc. Many desktop jobs are hands on and this is what you need if you aspire to move into the server world in the future.

Microsoft IT Professional Certifications?microsoft internet explorer

OK I'll recommend you to do certs. For server there are many certs available, Server+, Linux+, MCSA / MCSE, RHCA / RHCE. You need some other certs to get some basic knowledge like A+, Network+ and CCNA would be best. You can get more info. on http://www.certcollection.co.cc/forum

Microsoft sql server 2000 server components is not supported in windows xp sp2 what to do ?ie 6

The error message is telling you that you cannot install SQL server 2000 in Windows XP sp2. If you are trying to install a full version of Sql 2000, you will need to do so on a server based operating system (i.e MicroSoft Server 2003). You can use the free SQL Express edition for Windows XP. Microsoft makes this incompatible on purpose so you have to buy their more expensive server OS.

Why does the republican gov give tax breaks to Big companies like Microsoft who export jobs to India

Why is cisco( the largest network equipment maker) getting huge tax breaks from making 95% of their products overseas?

Why is microsoft getting a tax break on sending tech support jobs to India?

the government should tax any company who decides to take a job outside the US through the roof. These companies are killing the dollar. I can wait for a democrat to be in Office to Tax these selfish people.

Why does the republican gov give tax breaks to Big companies like Microsoft who export jobs to India?download ie

Um, actually, Congress controls the budget, and Democrats control Congress. Not one of the bills that they've sent to the president has had any such stipulation. Why don't you write to your Congressman/Senator and ask why?

Why does the republican gov give tax breaks to Big companies like Microsoft who export jobs to India?windows media player internet explorer

Because they're republicans and they think that eliminating the middle class is good for the economy.
The idea is a sound economic theory that doesn't seem to work well in practice.

The idea is you allow the big corporations to keep a larger portion of their profits and in return the corporations re-invest those savings in capital improvements and/or expansion. This re-investment then creates more jobs which leads to more income for smaller companies and for individuals which then leads to an over all increase in tax revenue. Like I said, it's a good theory.

The problem is many of these companies take their savings and re-invest by taking their production overseas where there is cheaper labor. But along the way, the American workers and the tax base gets screwed.

I would have no problem with these tax breaks if they came with provisions that the companies keeps a certain percentage of it's work force in the United States.
I agree with anthony k
Why does America as a country agree to such thing all together! It's pathetic....the price of an Employee U.S.A vs INDIA, is 4 to 1....but there is a lot more that goes into it. It is cheaper, but is it better? I can tell you from personal Experience it is not. The more jobs go overseas, the worse our Economy. but things should get better when the baby boomers retire in 10 years or so, and the new generations will have more jobs available...
American corporations have amassed huge wealth from developing economies, now old population wants to be supported by those countries to survive.

Otherwise retirement beneffits and social security benefits in US will dry up.
When you get your wish and MS is forced to pay more in taxes should they increase the cost of their products, decrease wages or lay off workers?
Do you think the Democrats dont do this ?????well let me say this if you havent gotten the memo -wall st controls all of the politicians go to http://opensecrets.org pick any candidate and hit top contributors - the dems are as bought as the repubs - the only choice you have is Ron Paul if you really want change who gets his massive contributions from everyday citizens

Will fellow Windows users please tell me what Apple has copied from Microsoft??? (Only Windows users

I'm so tired of the dumb Mac users getting jealous and upset that Windows is by far the best OS and that Macs are made for people who know nothing about computers. Now that Windows Vista has come out, they see it as the perfect opportuniy to critize windows just for MINOR similarities. I mean common, the real computer people know that Apple was almost forced into bankruptsy before. It was the ipod and all the other rediculous i-technology that saved them because no one was buying their over-priced computers.

I have Vista and I have used the Mac OS X before. I know there are some similarities but I believe Microsoft is trying to make Windows better then before with some borrowed ideas but Vista is an art all on it's own. Personally I like Windows more then a Mac. Mainly because of all the software for a Windows and support.

Anyway every Mac user talks as if Microsoft is the bad guy but I want to know from fellow windows users not Mac users, what has Apple copied from Microsoft.

Will fellow Windows users please tell me what Apple has copied from Microsoft??? (Only Windows users answer)?internet explorer 7

Will fellow Windows users please tell me what Apple has copied from Microsoft??? (Only Windows users answer)?microsoft word internet explorer

Apple has copied nothing from Microsoft. The operating systems are based off of two entirely different systems. First of all, Apple machine's kernal is Unix based. Meanwhile, Microsoft operating systems continue to be DOS based (code that bought but might as well have stolen from IBM). Vista has been modified to emulate some of the functionalities of a Unix based system. Secondly, OS X is an open source operating system. Microsoft meanwhile continues to keep all their code under lock and key. Lastly, all the new features that have appeared in Vista have been around in open source and Apple software for at least the better portion of a decade.

Microsoft Internet Explorer in Windows Vista Ultimate?

I am unable to open Microsoft Internet Explorer Browser and I get Windows Help and Support Screen where I get this message:

What is Data Execution Prevention?

Data Execution Prevention (DEP) is a security feature that can help prevent damage to your computer from viruses and other security threats. Harmful programs can try to attack Windows by attempting to run (also known as execute) code from system memory locations reserved for Windows and other authorized programs. These types of attacks can harm your programs and files.

DEP can help protect your computer by monitoring your programs to make sure that they use system memory safely. If DEP notices a program on your computer using memory incorrectly, it closes the program and notifies you.

I want to Turn OFF DEP for all programs and services.

My Opera and Mozilla Firefox browsers are working extremely well now.

Kindly help me please to start my Microsoft Internet Explorer browser.

Microsoft virtual pc 2004 setup help!!!!?internet explorer download

You really need to leave more details. But from what you are saying, I can suggest the following:

- when the 'PC went blue', I can only assume that you mean that you got a BSOD (Blue Screen of Death).

- from the BSOD, you will usually find a short message, and a hexadecimal number, like 0x8000e002, or something.

- take as much detail as you can from that screen (unfortunately it does mean copying it all down onto paper), and either search Google, or Microsoft for help, or start another question on here!

Do people from Microsoft take notice to the "Xbox Live Should Be Free" mottos or what'

My subscription ends in February and I'd like to see Microsoft notice that their costumers are not happy. I think if I bought their hardware, I should be free to use it however I want, I already pay or my internet service, I buy Xbox 360 games (which really hits my wallet), not to even mention the purchase of the expensive console. They really fool their costumers with Xbox Live gold membership, not to even mention that their console doesn't support any third-party products, all money goes to Microsoft. Do you think they'll take notice at the complains about Xbox Live? Thank you.....Xbox Live Should Be Free!

Do people from Microsoft take notice to the "Xbox Live Should Be Free" mottos or what's going on with that..?ie tab

Just keep in mind that if XBL is free, there's no more XBL Arcade, no more free demos or trailers, no more awesome features for blocking/muting/adding people, no more of the things that makes XBL so cool in the first place. Someone above mentioned that some fanboys use the $50/year as an excuse to say XBL is better than Sony's free service, and--while I'm definitely not a fanboy--I do believe the $50/year makes for a higher-quality service.

On the other side of the coin, I see where you're coming from--having to pay huge amounts of money for the console, games, accessories, and an internet connection in addition to the XBL service can make a pretty big impact on someone with even a modest income. My argument is that you (and everyone who shares your opinion) knew about the fees before you spent all that money on the console, games, and accessories--and if you really had that big of a problem with it, you shouldn't have started paying for it in the first place.

Bottom line is: you get what you pay for. XBL is a great service that provides far more than just a platform on which gamers from around the world can compete with each other--it provides a community where people can keep in touch (or not, depending on their choice), where people can keep up-to-date on gaming news via demos and trailers (I'm gonna be playing the crap out of the Guitar Hero III demo when I get home from work). So if you want free, go get a Playstation. Otherwise, remember what I said in the first paragraph--a free service won't offer all the features that makes XBL what it is.

Do people from Microsoft take notice to the "Xbox Live Should Be Free" mottos or what's going on with that..?windows mobile internet explorerThere is a thing about Xbox live being free, if 100k people put it in there bio or w\e it will be free, alot of people say that, around 60 of my friends have it, so put it in your profiles and stuff, just in case, ;) Report It

Personally I don't think they'll take notice for two reasons. First, they're Microsoft, when have they in the past taken notice of such things, look at their OS for computers, lots of people wonder why you have to pay hundreds of dollars for software that the computer has to have to run.

The second big reason, is that the fanboys out there are more than happy to pay the $50 and use that as an excuse as to why the xbox live is so much better (which is personal opinion) than the free service offered by sony on the PS3.
lol, it equals out to like 13 cents a day , owning noobs for 2-3 hours a day is worth 13 cents lol
Odd my MadCatz controller works just fine. Who told you it doesn't support third party products? They won't pay attention to your whining, and do you know WHY? It is because THEY DON'T HAVE TO. Isn't it great to be Microsoft? I mean I can sit here and say I should get a 360 for free, but that won't happen. I can say I should get Live for free, but that won't happen. You know WHY I won't get live for free? The simple answer is because I'll pay for it. Yep that's right because me and millions of others will spend a lousy $50 a YEAR to pay for it. Now if you can talk EVERYONE into not paying for it then Microsoft would eventually make it free. Might take a year or so to prove to them we are serious, but they would give in.
People have been paying for the xbox live service for years. Do you really think MS is going to give up that money because some people say they are unhappy about it? No way.
